The fourth edition of the content ‘Ceramic to build’ promoted by HISPALYT Chair was arranged in collaboration with the London Metropolitan University, the KTH Ar-chitecture and the Built Environment of Stockholm, the Facoltá di Architettura di Napoli and the Facoltá di Architettura di Venezia.
The competition proposed the design of a building for the public baths, or ‘hamman’ in Arabic. It was sited in the egipcian town of New Gourna, near to Luxor, a famous place because it was fully designed by Hassan Fathy.
The building had to be built with ceramic and its design had to incluide an energy efficient design.
The jury appreciated the close relation between form, space and constuctive system of this proposal and it was awarded with an honourable mention.
